Simple past

The simple present tense verbs are used to indicate a habitual action, which occurs when it is announced. It usually appears after time expressions such as when, as soon as, before and after. Some adverbs of frequency also act as the simple present, such as always, Generally, seldom and often.

Affirmative: Subject + Infinitive. For he, she, it is adding-s.

I drink
He drinks.

Negative: Subject + Do / Does + Not + Verb main infinitive (without to). For he, she, it is used does, for others it uses the.


I do not accept I do not drink = drink.

He does not drink = He does not drink.


Interrogative: Do / Does + Subject + Verb in infinitive

Do I drink?

Does he drink?
Examples:

Often Brazil wins the world cup.

The stars always shine in the dark sky.
